WGBC – Sales Representative

  • Company: The Wisconsin Grass-fed Beef Cooperative (WGBC) is a producer cooperative comprised of over 240 sustainable family farms from across the state. The WGBC has been in business for over 15 years and continues to deliver profitable growth while ensuring producer members have a premium market for their unique products.
  • Position: To continue growth with deeper outlet penetration in the existing delivery area, and expand sales coverage into the upper Midwest.  The WGBC is looking for a dynamic and resourceful sale representative to join our team.
  • Responsible To:
    1. WGBC – General Manager
  • Responsibilities: The sales representative (SR) will work throughout Wisconsin and surrounding areas to service existing customers and develop new customers. The (SR) may utilize a WGBC branded vehicle at times. Specific new customer targets include:
    1. Generating new sales leads via cold calls, trade shows or online follow up.
    2. Take orders, fulfill orders and invoice customers in QuickBooks.
    3. Service existing customers of the WGBC while also attracting new customers.
    4. Develop relationships with new customers at retail, food service and wholesale through in person meetings, phone calls, lead follow up, product sampling and/or product demonstrations.
    5. Inform customers of new products.
    6. Inventory sample stock and point of sales materials.
    7. Maintain the delivery vehicle so that it is clean and maintenance it regularly to ensure the longevity of the vehicle.
    8. Support growth of direct-to-consumer business with logistic support when needed.
    9. Track use of samples and new contacts weekly. Report activity to GM monthly.
    10. Meet or exceed sales goals.
    11. Answer customer questions about lead times, product traits, terms, prices and availability.
    12. Follow up to ensure WGBC receives payments from past due customers. Any customer is “past due” status will not receive any additional products until payment has been made in full.
  • Skill Requirements:
    1. High School diploma or GED.
    2. An associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing or business would be advantageous.
    3. Ability to have a discussion with a buyer or potential customer about the key features of Wisconsin Meadows products and basic understanding of sustainable agriculture.
    4. 2-3 years of experience as a sales representative in a meat/food or related industry.
    5. Valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.
    6. Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. with little effort.
    7. Cluster existing accounts and new prospects to service them efficiently.
    8. Overnight travel may be required, potentially 4-8 times per month.
    9. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer skills. Basic QuickBooks knowledge is required.
    10. Great listening and problem-solving skills.
    11. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    12. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    13. Availability to work extended hours, including weekends.
